Bangarra Dance Theatre is one of Australia’s
most exciting dance companies, fusing contemporary dance with Indigenous
story-telling and tradition. A major force in Australian contemporary
dance, the company has also gained an outstanding international reputation
following sell out tours to New York, Washington and China.
LIVID 2003 is the first time Bangarra have performed as part of a music
festival of this scale. They will be performing two pieces ‘Toxic’
and ‘Lead’. Both pieces are fast paced, in-your-face portrayals
of the effects of mining on traditional culture.
“LIVID has always remained dedicated to cultural diversity and
artistic excellence – these are values that Bangarra relates to.”
says Bangarra artistic director Stephen Page.
